In July year 2010, Leslie and Sam met at Emory Hospital. Sam was finishing up his fellowship and she had just started working there. The following year in November, they planned a romantic weekend away at in Asheville. Sam had devised a proposal plan with the help of Leslie’s good friend and purchased an engagement ring three months before. When the time came for their trip, he hid away flowers and champagne.
They settled in at the Biltmore Estates, and as they watched the sunset, he began to nervously start the conversation about the sunset. He asked her what she thought of the meaning of sunset. When he realized she wasn’t following, he began to say, “sunset means the end of this day and soon to be another day, just like stages in life and relationships, you cross over from one stage at the end to the beginning of another.” Then he proceeded to showed her the ring waiting for a reaction. To which she said, “Aren’t you supposed to say something?” He proposed. She said yes. Then 30 mins of silence letting it all sink in. :)
We photographed their engagement session a few weeks ago at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park with their dog Otis.
