Happy New Year, everyone!

Instead of doing a year by year resolutions list, a few years ago I put together a 30 before 30 list. I realized over the years, I kept switching them out as I crossed out each goal, which in turn, made me feel like I accomplished nothing. This year, I merged my old list with current goals that I have. It’s my last year to really get these in!

Read the bible from cover to cover. No skipping around.

Cook all the recipes in the cookbook my gfs made me
Host people at our house twice a month
Learn to play five of my fave songs on guitar
Take social dance classes swing or salsa
Declutter entire house
Redesign every room in the house

Grow an herb garden & keep them alive long enough to cook
Get to know one new neighbor

Donate $10 to charity for every item on the list not completed.

Here’s to new beginnings and my new herb garden! It’s the best use of our bathtub yet. Growing squash, cilantro, peppers, thyme, basil, and parsley. Let’s just how many of this serial plant killer doesn’t kill this year.

Carmen and Bob | Wild Dunes Resort Charleston Wedding Photographer

Carmen and Bob got married at Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston. It was on an island which gave the wedding a much more secluded and intimate feel. Plus, they always dreamed they would have a beach front wedding. They wanted to keep the wedding simple and tasteful, and used red as a primary color – which is a celebratory color in the chinese heritage, Red also comes out beautifully bold for photos and is timeless. They sprinkled a lot of Chinese traditions into an otherwise very Western wedding. The sign in table had a traditional Chinese silk cloth for our guests to sign in. They also started their wedding day with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Family is very important to the both of them and sharing the weekend with the important people in their lives made it most memorable. Jacob and I were very honored that we got to be a part of their special weekend.

Happy Wedding Wednesday! I know I’m way behind on blogging. Here’s an overdue post from Iris and Mick’s wedding at the Westin Dawn Beach Resort on the beautiful island of Saint Martin / Sint Marteen. We’re always excited when we get to shoot beautiful couples in exotic locations. And then add in bridesmaids that climb walls, a good sense of humor, and people who can kill it on the dance floor = Good times.

Brandy and Grant | Georgia National Fair Perry Georgia Engagement Photographer

Brandy and Grant first met in middle school and while there was some flirting back and forth, they didn’t start dating until junior year in high school. They were high school sweethearts for two years and broke up for college, but as fate would have it, they reconnected ten years later. September 9th of this year, Grant had a special surprise for Brandy at Aria in their private wine cellar decorated with photos of them over the years, rose petals, and candlelight. They were engaged, and then met up with family and friends to celebrate at the Mansion.

We had so much fun exploring the Georgia National Fair down in Perry Georgia with these two. It was a perfect location that reflected their fun personalities.

Hayley and Ross | Mauna Kea Resort Big Island Hawaii Engagement and Wedding Photographer

We had such a great time in Hawaii with Hayley and Ross. We first met them on our honeymoon in Fiji and ended up shooting a honeymoon session for them. We somehow knew we would become lifelong friends. Next, we were planning to head out to Big Island the following year to celebrate and shoot their one year anniversary around Mauna Kea Resort and other parts of Big Island.

We loved all the different landscapes that Big Island has to offer. The lush green jungles. The black sand beaches. The lava fields. They were all really incredible. It wasn’t easy walking through the lava fields in flip flops and lying on the beach when there are tons of creepy critters running around, but it was an adventure we’re glad to have shared with these two. And hopefully the photos made all of that worthwhile!

Sorry for neglecting the blog. Between work and travel, it’s been so hard to keep up! We just got back last week from a wonderful trip to Shanghai & Beijing in China and Jakarta, Indonesia. We took our newest addition fujifilm x100, and it was fun exploring new cities with a new camera.

Before we left, we got to check out the Georgia National Fair in Perry for the very first time with Brandy and Grant. It was such a cute and colorful location for an engagement session and a perfect mix of work and play. Here’s a quick teaser from their session. Excited to share more soon!
